Spicy Arrabbiata Sauce for Penne

A rrabbiata means “angry” in Italian—and this sauce brings the heat in the best way. Loaded with garlic, chili flakes, and rich tomatoes, it clings beautifully to penne for a punchy pasta dish you’ll crave again and again.

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 250g VUGVUGI penne pasta

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes

  • 1–2 tsp red chili flakes (adjust to your heat preference)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the penne pasta until al dente.

  2. Heat olive oil in a pan, sauté garlic until golden, and then add chili flakes.

  3. Add crushed tomatoes and oregano, and simmer for 10–15 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  4. Season with salt and pepper.

  5. Toss the cooked penne in the spicy sauce.

  6. Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.
